Just a quick stop by tonight. I brought over a very nice, very large French country dining table to replace the cottage harvest table just sold.
This table was only in the shoppe a few days and sold with a set of 4 antique plank chairs. The table, not an antique, but likely from the 1960s, is nicely built with grand turned legs and a quality full wood top and apron. It measured about 5.5′ long and 38″ wide. Finished in a distressed satin black with a walnut stained top.
The plank chairs are antiques and look to have been built in the late 1800s. The designation “plank” came from the construction of the seat portion of the chair being made from a full 2″ thick portion of wood planking. These were also known as “arrowback” chairs; that name coming from the slats in the seat back having an arrow design as it moved upwards to the top portion of the chairback. The table and 4 chairs sold together for $525.
Brought this table over today to replace the table first shown. Again, not an antique and not vintage, but a nice high-quality French country dining table with beautiful saber legs, pad feet and a carved flora applique on each “knee”. Finished in distressed satin black, the table top is nicely done in a deep walnut with a black wood inlay. Heavy and large, this table has a 12″ matching leaf and it measures 5 feet 8″ long (6’8″ with the leaf) by 40″ wide and 30.5″ high. This is a very nice dining piece.
The chair is a vintage French country cane-back with new seat fabric by Ballard Design in French script. The chair is finished to match the table and 4 of these will be available with the table for $625. The chairs have nice rams head feet and a floral design on the upper seat back.
Ali spent the day today looking for nice vintage costume jewelry and found some nice pieces that will be in the store for Thursday’s opening.
The shoppe also has a nice reproduction metal porch table with metal gingerbread, but I forgot to get a photo so I’ll have one for next week. That’s it for this evening. Going to watch Debt with Helen Mirren.
