Listening to heavy rain, wind and thunder down the shore right now. Its been building all day, but finally started in earnest about 7:30pm. Ali was trying to beat the storms back in Pennsylvania. She made a trip to Cottage Home’s candlemaker and picked up the new fall scents. They should be in the shop by Thursday, the weekend at the latest.
This is an old Pennsylvania jelly cupboard built in the late 18th or early 19th Century. I kept the original stain on the shelving area beneath the drawers. The doors were so split and dried that individual pieces of core wood broke along fault lines and were missing when Gloria found this piece. I removed them as they actually aren’t useful for much of anything. The paint is a mix of Annie Sloan colors with the Antibes Green muted with Graphite and Paris Gray. The drawer pulls are cast metal with nice filegree detailing. It measures almost 44″W x 41″H x 16″D and is priced at $365. Great TV/entertainment center.
I also finished a foyer or porch settee from a vintage headboard and an old bench. It will be in next week sometime and is painted in ASCP Olde White.
Well, that’s it for today. Still raining, although a bit more lightly. Dog’s asleep on the couch and Gloria’s slowly finishing a glass of wine. Time for a movie.
